In the 9th minute, Jeffrey Gough ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Owen Sawbridge was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Harvey Taylor sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Owen Sawbridge made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Harvey Taylor in the 14th minute of play. 16 minutes into the match, Denzil Holmes had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Owen Sawbridge. parkgate fc's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Denzil Holmes was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. In the 20th minute Jeffrey Gough shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Owen Sawbridge saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. parkgate fc's Owen Sawbridge played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Harvey Taylor in the 21st minute of play. A collision led to marks gate fc getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Dean Rundle hit a great ball. Eric Clarke sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in marks gate fc's zone, Kris Potterton stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Barry Ridsdale came out of the goal and Kris Potterton tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Dean Rundle kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. Barry Ridsdale came out of the goal in the 42nd minute to try and stop a shot by parkgate fc's Kris Potterton. But to his dismay, Kris Potterton quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. Kenny Bamfords short, quick shot in the 46thth minute got Barry Ridsdale to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Jeffrey Gough kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-3.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Harvey Taylor was the one to do the kick off. Spike Davison charged in rather forcefully in the 52nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Spike Davison the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 52nd minute, Spike Davison hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Harvey Taylor blasted a shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Owen Sawbridge having to make a save. The supporters of marks gate fc booed when parkgate fc was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rod Jenkinson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Owen Sawbridge yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-5. parkgate fc's Owen Sawbridge proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 81st minute of the match, managed to save parkgate fc from getting a goal against them. Eric Clarke sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Barry Ridsdale showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eric Clarke, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. Eric Clarke scored 3-5 in the 84th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Barry Ridsdale, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The audience thought a goal was coming when Russell Bensley got free with Owen Sawbridge in the 90th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. marks gate fc's Harvey Taylor managed to work through parkgate fc's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Harvey Taylor dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. marks gate fc walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
