After a defensive mix-up in Newbiggin FC's zone, Andrew Batty stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Justin Hilton came out of the goal and Andrew Batty tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 10 played minutes Newbiggin FC got a freekick which was hit by Conal Jepson. Newbiggin FC's Justin Hilton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Andrew Batty in the 16th minute of play. 20 minutes into the match, Newbiggin FC's Hugh Sewell sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Stuart Brookes narrowly saved just below the crossbar. With 22 minutes on the clock, Conal Jepson commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 21st minute of the game. One of Newbiggin FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Co Durham FC:s goal. Kieran Knott walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. Justin Hilton showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlton Davies in the 28th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Andrew Batty in the 29th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Justin Hilton prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 33rd minute, Ralf Hopton got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Bill Portway recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 35th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Ralf Hopton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bill Portway struck a weak shot in the 39th minute. Stuart Brookes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Newbiggin FC. When Bill Portway fell near the penalty area in the 43rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Newbiggin FC's protests and gave Bill Portway a yellow card for diving instead. Archie Greens short, quick shot in the 45thth minute got Justin Hilton to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Hugh Sewell kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match. Andrew Batty received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 49th minute. Justin Hilton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Andrew Batty to strike the kick off in the second half. Justin Hilton showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carlton Davies, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. Justin Hilton showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Archie Hassell in the 60th minute of the match. Jeremy Bonham's late challenge caught a Co Durham FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jeremy Bonham helped the player get up and apologised. In the 63rd match minute, Newbiggin FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jeremy Bonham to maneuver through the defense. In the 64th minute Archie Green shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Justin Hilton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Justin Hilton showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Archie Green in the 71st minute of the match. If Archie Green had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Andrew Batty in the 81st minute of play forced Newbiggin FC's goalkeeper Justin Hilton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 83rd minute, Archie Hassell made a precise shot to the right of Justin Hilton. Newbiggin FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Tom Stockdale recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 86th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Andrew Batty sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Newbiggin FC were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
