Conal Jepson's late challenge caught a Bishops Castle's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Conal Jepson helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Newbiggin FC getting a freekick after 2 minutes play. Conal Jepson hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Newbiggin FC's zone, Huey Meadowcroft stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Justin Hilton came out of the goal and Huey Meadowcroft tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 5 played minutes Bishops Castle got a freekick which was hit by Felix Prutton. An unexpectedly hard shot by Huey Meadowcroft in the 8th minute of play forced Newbiggin FC's goalkeeper Justin Hilton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 11 minutes into the game, Toby Kerfoot threw the ball into play from the sideline. Newbiggin FC's Conal Jepson quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. 15 minutes into the match, Newbiggin FC's goal looked a bit too open when Huey Meadowcroft came free, but Justin Hilton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Justin Hilton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daryl Nash, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 18th minute Brett Ferdinand shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Justin Hilton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 34 minutes, Bill Portway mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Newbiggin FC and the Bishops Castle players grew even worse after the yellow card. 37 minutes into the match, Huey Meadowcroft had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Justin Hilton. Newbiggin FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Huey Meadowcroft was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Justin Hilton showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daryl Nash in the 40th minute of the match. In the 42ndth minute of the game Tod Bell who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Newbiggin FC's Justin Hilton was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Justin Hilton showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sean Nash, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. After the first half Bishops Castle were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Bishops Castle were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
