Conal Jepson kicked well hit freekick during the 9th minute of the match. John-Paul Bloom blasted a shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Justin Hilton having to make a save. John-Paul Bloom's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Justin Hilton read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 14th minute of play. Justin Hilton made an important save on a dangerous shot by Denny Beswetherick in the 15th minute. In the 18th minute John-Paul Bloom shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Justin Hilton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Denny Beswetherick could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 19th minute of the match, but Justin Hilton made a huge save. The crowd rose to their feet as Northallerton's John-Paul Bloom slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Justin Hilton. That made the score 2-0 after 27 minutes of play. Newbiggin FC's Justin Hilton proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 33rd minute of the match, managed to save Newbiggin FC from getting a goal against them. When Bill Portway fell near the penalty area in the 34th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Newbiggin FC's protests and gave Bill Portway a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Newbiggin FC's Bill Portway got a free kick in the 34th minute. If Mike Wardill had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Justin Hilton showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from John-Paul Bloom in the 45th minute of the match. When John-Paul Bloom fell near the penalty area in the 46th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Northallerton's protests and gave John-Paul Bloom a yellow card for diving instead. John-Paul Bloom kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

After having played for 51 minutes, Mike Wardill managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Northallerton's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mike Wardill was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 55 minutes into the match, John-Paul Bloom had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Justin Hilton. Newbiggin FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that John-Paul Bloom was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. 57 minutes into the match, Newbiggin FC's goal looked a bit too open when John-Paul Bloom came free, but Justin Hilton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 60th minute, Conal Jepson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. John-Paul Bloom recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 61st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Northallerton booed when Newbiggin FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sebastien Rush didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Newbiggin FC's zone, John-Paul Bloom stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Justin Hilton came out of the goal and John-Paul Bloom tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mike Wardill in the 69th minute of play forced Newbiggin FC's goalkeeper Justin Hilton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Mike Wardill came up free with the goalie in the 73rd minute, the Northallerton fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mike Wardill couldn't finish the play. Sebastien Rush kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. The supporters of Newbiggin FC booed when Northallerton was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joel Holstead didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 91 played minutes Newbiggin FC got a freekick which was hit by Bill Portway. If Mike Wardill had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Justin Hilton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mike Wardill in the 96th minute of play. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Northallerton had played much better football throughout.
