If Ged Nelson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Joel Holstead kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. Sly Schofield made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leon Edworthy in the 12th minute of play. When Phil Langford came up free with the goalie in the 14th minute, the Lond-Catford fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Phil Langford couldn't finish the play. Northallerton's Sly Schofield proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 17th minute of the match, managed to save Northallerton from getting a goal against them. In the 18th minute, Michael Merchant hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 26 minutes into the match, Lond-Catford's goal looked a bit too open when Mike Wardill came free, but Rick Elam reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by John-Paul Bloom in the 28th minute of play forced Lond-Catford's goalkeeper Rick Elam to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. John-Paul Bloom received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Rick Elam tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jack Rowling hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. 47 minutes into the match, Lond-Catford's goal looked a bit too open when John-Paul Bloom came free, but Rick Elam reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ged Nelson was the one to do the kick off. John-Paul Bloom's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rick Elam read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 63rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by John-Paul Bloom in the 65th minute of play forced Lond-Catford's goalkeeper Rick Elam to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Lond-Catford's Francis Blunt got a free kick in the 70th minute. In the 79th match minute, Northallerton was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by John-Paul Bloom to maneuver through the defense. After 82 played minutes Lond-Catford got a freekick which was hit by Lee Dixon. Mike Wardill received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Piers Burns hit a great ball. After 87 minutes, Leon Edworthy mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Lond-Catford and the Northallerton players grew even worse after the yellow card. 87 minutes into the game, one of Lond-Catford:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Rick Elam showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from John-Paul Bloom in the 92nd minute of the match. After having played for 95 minutes, Ged Nelson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lond-Catford's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ged Nelson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Mike Wardill blasted a shot towards the goal in the 99th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Rick Elam having to make a save. Many of Northallerton's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Northallerton may have spent more time on the ball, but Lond-Catford were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
