Perry Laycock was in a good position and ended up with the ball after Lavendon City's free kick, but he didn't get a good hit on the ball and blazed it high and to the right of the goal. In the 14th minute, Oliver McCartney hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Kristopher Chilton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Allan Stamp in the 17th minute of play. Dylon Hughes-Guy placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! Allan Stamp sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Mike Stonehouse was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Perry Laycock showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 26 minute of play. Guy Gunn who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 30thth minute tested the skills of Mike Stonehouse when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Kristopher Chilton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Oliver McCartney, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Craig Cole sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, southampton's Mike Stonehouse got control of the ball when Guy Gunn tried to sneak it across the goal line. Mike Stonehouse was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 58thth minute of the game Guy Gunn who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but southampton's Mike Stonehouse was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 70th minute, Allan Stamp ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Kristopher Chilton was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. Craig Cole hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. Perry Laycock sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When John-Paul Warner fell near the penalty area in the 80th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored southampton's protests and gave John-Paul Warner a yellow card for diving instead.
