After a defensive mix-up in Theale AVFC's zone, Olly Crittenden stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hugh Houghton came out of the goal and Olly Crittenden tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Theale AVFC's Hugh Houghton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Clive Holloway in the 11th minute of play. Bernie Lucas kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. Clive Holloway sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Clive Holloway struck a weak shot in the 17th minute. Hugh Houghton didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Staffy Terrier FC. Through an outstanding action, after 19 minutes, Hugh Houghton successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. After 20 minutes Theale AVFC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Alf Klint who took care of the corner kick. Clive Holloway sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Pepe Guardiola fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hugh Houghton having to interfere. In the 32nd minute, Grant Black hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Theale AVFC's Joe Whalley got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 37th minute, Pepe Guardiola left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Staffy Terrier FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. In the 40th minute, Clive Holloway got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

If Joe Whalley had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Andrew Harrison took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kurt Waller, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Grant Black fell near the penalty area in the 56th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Staffy Terrier FC's protests and gave Grant Black a yellow card for diving instead. When Pepe Guardiola came up free with the goalie in the 69th minute, the Staffy Terrier FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pepe Guardiola couldn't finish the play. In the 72nd match minute, Theale AVFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Drew Hill to maneuver through the defense. Clive Holloway took the ball and in the 74 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Hugh Houghton. Hugh Houghton dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. The supporters of Theale AVFC booed when Staffy Terrier FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Clive Holloway didn't get a good kick on the ball. Clive Holloway received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Hugh Houghton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the referee ended the match the Staffy Terrier FC players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
