Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sean Millman in the 14th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Hugh Houghton prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Marty Newbury made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kurt Waller in the 16th minute of play. After having played for 18 minutes, Sid Bedford managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Milnrow Uni's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sid Bedford was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Sid Bedford fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hugh Houghton having to interfere. In the 24thth minute of the game Sean Millman who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Theale AVFC's Hugh Houghton was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 25th match minute, Theale AVFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Warren Bowland to maneuver through the defense. After 28 minutes, Joe Whalley mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Theale AVFC and the Milnrow Uni players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 30 minutes, Sean Millman made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Theale AVFC's Hugh Houghton tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 34th minute Warren Bowland shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marty Newbury saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hugh Houghton stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sid Bedford's shot from short distance in the 35th minute. Sean Millman kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. Marty Newbury made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Warren Bowland in the 45th minute of play. When Milnrow Uni's Sean Millman in the 46th minute got a chance for a shot 46th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Theale AVFC's goalie prevented a goal. The Theale AVFC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Milnrow Uni were winning 0-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Kurt Waller was the one to do the kick off. In the 51st minute, Zane Seagrave hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience was convinced that Sid Bedford's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Hugh Houghton was relentless in the 54th minute of the game. Zane Seagrave kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Theale AVFC's zone, Sid Bedford stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hugh Houghton came out of the goal and Sid Bedford tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 64th minute, Kurt Waller managed to get in a good position for a shot. Theale AVFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Kurt Waller was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marty Newbury breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Lenny Vaughn was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 66 minutes into the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 65th minute of the game. One of Milnrow Uni:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Theale AVFC:s goal. In the 72nd minute, Reuben Cornish made a precise shot to the right of Hugh Houghton. Theale AVFC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3. Marty Newbury showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Warren Bowland in the 75th minute of the match. Hugh Houghton showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Reuben Cornish, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sid Bedford in the 84th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Hugh Houghton prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The long shot by Reuben Cornish in the 89th minute really tested Hugh Houghton's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Sid Bedford sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Reuben Cornish took the ball and in the 91 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Hugh Houghton. Hugh Houghton dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-4. If Sid Bedford had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
