Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Sean Millman made the kick off which started today's match. In the 3rd minute, Sean Millman reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Hugh Houghton. The goal made the score 1-0. Milnrow Uni's Marty Newbury played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zane Seagrave in the 10th minute of play. After having played for 14 minutes, Sid Bedford managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Milnrow Uni's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sid Bedford was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 16thth minute of the game Sid Bedford who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Theale AVFC's Hugh Houghton was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 18th minute, Kurt Waller hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sid Bedford in the 22nd minute of play forced Theale AVFC's goalkeeper Hugh Houghton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hugh Houghton stood somewhat misplaced when Sid Bedford came free in front of goal and shot 3-0 to the left of him in the 27 minute. When the match clock showed 31 minutes, the score became 4-0 when Sid Bedford sped through Theale AVFC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Hugh Houghton. In the 36th minute the ball was on its way in behind Theale AVFC's goalkeeper Hugh Houghton, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The supporters of Milnrow Uni booed when Theale AVFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bernie Lucas didn't get a good kick on the ball. 39 minutes into the match, Theale AVFC's goalkeeper Hugh Houghton had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Reuben Cornish. Marty Newbury didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Kurt Waller went, in the 43rd minute, to the upper right corner, 4-1 was the resulting score. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 4-1.

Hugh Houghton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sid Bedford, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sean Millman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hugh Houghton having to interfere. Hugh Houghton showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sid Bedford, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. After 57 minutes, Warren Bowland mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Theale AVFC and the Milnrow Uni players grew even worse after the yellow card. Sid Bedford received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Hugh Houghton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Sid Bedford had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lenny Vaughn kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. Kurt Waller could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 65th minute of the match, but Marty Newbury made a huge save. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sid Bedford in the 69th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Hugh Houghton prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience was convinced that Sean Millman's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Hugh Houghton was relentless in the 75th minute of the game. In the 76th minute, Zane Seagrave hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Hugh Houghton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sid Bedford in the 77th minute of play. Sean Millman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hugh Houghton having to interfere. After 88 played minutes Milnrow Uni got a freekick which was hit by Alf Whitmore.
