Spectators: 7485 (Terracing: 5500, Seating: 1835, VIP seats: 150) Helsby United's Piers Postolan started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the match, Helsby United's goal looked a bit too open when Alex Zanardi came free, but Louis Roche reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 6 minutes, Alex Zanardi managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Staffy Terrier FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alex Zanardi was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Louis Roche showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Olly Crittenden in the 8th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Helsby United defense, Alex Zanardi kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Louis Roche. The Helsby United fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Louis Roche should have stopped the shot. The supporters of Staffy Terrier FC booed when Helsby United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Piers Postolan didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 16th minute, Grant Britton hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Pepe Guardiola came up free with the goalie in the 20th minute, the Staffy Terrier FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pepe Guardiola couldn't finish the play. Louis Roche came out of the goal in the 25th minute to try and stop a shot by Staffy Terrier FC's Alex Zanardi. But to his dismay, Alex Zanardi quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Pepe Guardiola scored 0-3 in the 30th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Louis Roche, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Rod Bond made in the 35th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Staffy Terrier FC's Nikos Samaris. Alex Zanardi hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. Andrew Harrison made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Huey Hinchcliffe in the 38th minute of play. A collision led to Helsby United getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Rowan Hellen hit a great ball. When Pedro Jones fell near the penalty area in the 47th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Helsby United's protests and gave Pedro Jones a yellow card for diving instead. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Pepe Guardiola to make the kick off. Alf Klint received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Louis Roche tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Pepe Guardiola could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 67th minute of the match, but Louis Roche made a huge save. Staffy Terrier FC's Clive Holloway got a good chance for a goal in the 70th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 71st match minute, Helsby United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pedro Jones to maneuver through the defense. After 75 played minutes Helsby United got a freekick which was hit by Jo Platt. With a little luck, Helsby United's Louis Roche got control of the ball when Pepe Guardiola tried to sneak it across the goal line. Clive Holloway managed to, on his own, get straight through Helsby United's defense and in the 81st minute placed the ball to the left of Louis Roche. 0-4. After a rather tough play, Helsby United's Kristopher Willmott got a free kick in the 85th minute. After having played for 87 minutes, Pepe Guardiola managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Staffy Terrier FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Pepe Guardiola was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
