A collision led to East Molesey getting a freekick after 4 minutes play. Nicky Jordan hit a great ball. A hard shot 5 in the game by Simon Notley from a close distance when the talented Kevin Porter managed to make a qualified save. East Molesey's players were relieved. 7 minutes into the game, Simon Notley was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sheffield Wednesday F.C.'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave East Molesey the free kick. Simon Notley hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. Sidney Stonehouse hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. Kevin Porter made an important save on a dangerous shot by Simon Notley in the 10th minute. After 12 played minutes Sheffield Wednesday F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Mike Goacher. Kevin Porter made a fantastic save in the 15th minute, when Simon Notley sent off a good shot on target. Geoff Dibb's late challenge caught a Sheffield Wednesday F.C.'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jerry Lamb in the 25th minute of play forced Sheffield Wednesday F.C.'s goalkeeper Rob Kerfoot to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 35th match minute, Sheffield Wednesday F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Larry Hold to maneuver through the defense. Sheffield Wednesday F.C.'s Rob Kerfoot played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Stu Jordan in the 37th minute of play. After 39 minutes of play East Molesey's Geoff Dibb was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. In the 39th minute, Geoff Dibb hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Larry Hold fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kevin Porter having to interfere. Laurence Nelson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rob Kerfoot having to interfere. With a little luck, East Molesey's Kevin Porter got control of the ball when Simon Notley tried to sneak it across the goal line. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Stu Jordan stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd play minute Stu Jordan came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Rob Kerfoot. 0-1. Simon Notley sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Kevin Porter made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Larry Hold in the 67th minute of play. Rob Kerfoot made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Laurence Nelson in the 70th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Sidney Stonehouse kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Rob Kerfoot. That made the score 0-2 in the 74 minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Sheffield Wednesday F.C.'s zone, Stu Jordan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rob Kerfoot came out of the goal and Stu Jordan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Philip Barrow recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 84th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 87 played minutes, Sheffield Wednesday F.C.'s Simon Notley shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Kevin Porter came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Sheffield Wednesday F.C. reached it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Simon Notley in the 91st minute of play forced East Molesey's goalkeeper Kevin Porter to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 92nd minute Larry Hold shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kevin Porter saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 95th minute Mike Goacher shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kevin Porter saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After taking down the ball on Sheffield Wednesday F.C.'s corner Simon Notley fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Kevin Porter quite easily take care of the ball. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. East Molesey walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
