Spectators: 8056 (Terracing: 6043, Seating: 1853, VIP seats: 160) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Jeffrey Colley started the match with the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dom Middlewood in the 7th minute of play forced Evolution's goalkeeper Grant Rooney to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Dom Middlewood came up free with the goalie in the 9th minute, the Surbiton 17 fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dom Middlewood couldn't finish the play. Evolution's Grant Rooney played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Devon Bale in the 15th minute of play. 16 minutes into the game, Evolution's Jeffrey Colley nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Richard Purvis made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. The supporters of Evolution booed when Surbiton 17 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Owen Dunning didn't get a good kick on the ball. Vern Deeney took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 28th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Richard Purvis. Surbiton 17's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. If Vernon Drysdale had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Chesney Stonehouse received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Richard Purvis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jeffrey Colley could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 38th minute of the match, but Richard Purvis made a huge save. Dom Middlewood received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Grant Rooney tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 46th minute, Devon Bale got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The wind increased when Devon Bale made the kick off in the second half. Richard Purvis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rueben Rockey in the 54th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jeffrey Colley in the 58th minute of play forced Surbiton 17's goalkeeper Richard Purvis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Surbiton 17's Richard Purvis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Chesney Stonehouse in the 62nd minute of play. In the 69th minute, Devon Bale fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dom Middlewood got free with Grant Rooney in the 72nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 75 minutes into the game, Chesney Stonehouse cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Richard Purvis was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 82 minutes into the game, Devon Bale recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Grant Rooney. Devon Bale showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-1. After 94 played minutes Evolution got a freekick which was hit by Chesney Stonehouse. Evolution were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Surbiton 17 for a fine match.
