Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Ollie Stockdale kicked off to start the match. After a rather tough play, South Shields's Johnnie Holland got a free kick in the 3rd minute. Vince Piercy took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Clive Browne, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Vince Piercy came out of the goal in the 6th minute to try and stop a shot by Reigate FC's Rod Knowles. But to his dismay, Rod Knowles quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. In the 19th match minute, Reigate FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sol Burley to maneuver through the defense. Adrian Dexter made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Neil Slade in the 20th minute of play. After having played for 24 minutes, Ollie Stockdale managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. South Shields's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ollie Stockdale was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Alf Garner-Currie scored 0-2 in the 32nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Vince Piercy, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Vince Piercy made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rod Knowles in the 38th minute of play. In the 39th minute Alf Garner-Currie shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vince Piercy saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Neil Slade could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 42nd minute of the match, but Adrian Dexter made a huge save. When Rod Knowles fell near the penalty area in the 42nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Reigate FC's protests and gave Rod Knowles a yellow card for diving instead. Rod Knowles hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
The wind increased when Alf Garner-Currie made the kick off in the second half. Clive Browne took the ball and in the 52 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Vince Piercy. Vince Piercy dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. Adrian Dexter made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Neil Slade in the 59th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Dom Miller during the 60th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Dom Miller hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. If Alf Garner-Currie had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. Vince Piercy made an important save on a dangerous shot by Rod Knowles in the 68th minute. South Shields's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Alf Garner-Currie 70 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 0-5. Adrian Dexter showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ollie Stockdale, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. Ollie Stockdale received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Adrian Dexter tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Adrian Dexter showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Neil Slade in the 82nd minute of the match. Vince Piercy took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alf Garner-Currie, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Vince Piercy didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Clive Browne went, in the 89th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-6 was the resulting score. Clive Browne sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal.
