Spectators: 7947 (Terracing: 5961, Seating: 1828, VIP seats: 158) 4 minutes into the match, Purple Cobras's goal looked a bit too open when Damian Meadowcroft came free, but Bill Kay reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mathias Terpstra blasted a shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Bill Kay having to make a save. Ruben Folan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Husbands's Charles Hurst played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Martin Folwill in the 15th minute of play. Mathias Terpstra could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 16th minute of the match, but Bill Kay made a huge save. Mathias Terpstra sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Erubiel Ignazio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 22nd minute, Damian Meadowcroft fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Husbands's Mathias Terpstra got a good chance for a goal in the 23rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Bill Kay showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mathias Terpstra in the 25th minute of the match. In the 26th minute, Perry Toovey hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Erubiel Ignazio's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 30thth minute, Bill Kay skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Charles Hurst made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sean Barr in the 31st minute of play. Bill Kay stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Kieran Barfield's shot from short distance in the 35th minute. The supporters of Husbands booed when Purple Cobras was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Johnny Attwood didn't get a good kick on the ball. Damian Meadowcrofts short, quick shot in the 39thth minute got Bill Kay to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Bill Kay took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Erubiel Ignazio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd rose to their feet as Husbands's Mathias Terpstra slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Bill Kay. That made the score 1-0 after 43 minutes of play. Mathias Terpstra sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Damian Meadowcroft to strike the kick off in the second half. Mathias Terpstra received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Bill Kay tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Scott Whieldon charged in rather forcefully in the 54th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Scott Whieldon the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 55 played minutes Purple Cobras got a freekick which was hit by Scott Whieldon. Ruben Folan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Damian Meadowcroft in the 59th minute of play forced Purple Cobras's goalkeeper Bill Kay to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 65th minute Mathias Terpstra shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bill Kay saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mathias Terpstra fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bill Kay having to interfere. Erubiel Ignazio's late challenge caught a Purple Cobras's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Erubiel Ignazio helped the player get up and apologised. Mathias Terpstra fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bill Kay having to interfere. Graeme Commons kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. Bill Kay came out of the goal in the 76th minute to try and stop a shot by Husbands's Damian Meadowcroft. But to his dismay, Damian Meadowcroft quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. 80 minutes into the match, Damian Meadowcroft had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Bill Kay. Purple Cobras's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Damian Meadowcroft was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. After having played for 85 minutes, Damian Meadowcroft managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Husbands's supporters crossed their fingers, but Damian Meadowcroft was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Mathias Terpstra received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Bill Kay tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ruben Folan struck a weak shot in the 89th minute. Bill Kay didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Husbands. Husbands walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
