After 25 played minutes Reigate FC got a freekick which was hit by Rod Knowles. In the 29th minute of the match Jools Brumfitt shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Barry Tully showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Clive Browne in the 30th minute of play forced Shaftesbury FC's goalkeeper Barry Tully to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 32nd match minute, Shaftesbury FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tyrone Bevan to maneuver through the defense. A hard and well directed shot from Nath Forrest led 49 minutes into the game to a goal after the ball had bounced deceptively just in front of the goal. Reigate FC's Adrian Dexter became a little unsure and couldn't grip the ball before it was over the goalline. Thus it was 1-0. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Trev Gardener stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Trev Gardener struck a weak shot in the 57th minute. Adrian Dexter didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Shaftesbury FC. 58 minutes into the match, Reigate FC's goal looked a bit too open when Trev Gardener came free, but Adrian Dexter reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Shaftesbury FC's Barry Tully played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alf Garner-Currie in the 62nd minute of play. In the 65th minute, Alf Garner-Currie reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Barry Tully. The goal made the score 1-1. In the 70th minute there was a penalty for Shaftesbury FC. Nath Forrest stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Adrian Dexter. 2-1. Garth Peakman kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. Christian Beasley struck a weak shot in the 79th minute. Adrian Dexter didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Shaftesbury FC. Clive Browne might have been able to make a better finish in the 82nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Barry Tully. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Clive Browne ran back to his position shaking his head. Barry Tully showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Garth Peakman, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. After 86 played minutes Shaftesbury FC got a freekick which was hit by Kristopher Mumford. In the 91st minute the ball was on its way in behind Shaftesbury FC's goalkeeper Barry Tully, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Trev Gardener sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. For all the effort they put into the match, the Reigate FC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Shaftesbury FC.
