Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Hilsea's Sidney Doyle started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After some careless play in the Beckford defense, Ashley Driver kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Reuben Reid. The Beckford fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Reuben Reid should have stopped the shot. Sidney Doyle received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Reuben Reid tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Beckford's Nat Porter in the 14th minute got a chance for a shot 14th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Hilsea's goalie prevented a goal. In the 17th minute of the match Joshua Perryman shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but John England showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. A collision led to Beckford getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Syd Calder hit a great ball. In the 18th minute of the match Kenny Dobson sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Reuben Reid skillfully saved the ball. Reuben Reid didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ashley Driver went, in the 21st minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. In the 26th minute, Phil Wallbank hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Kenny Dobson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 27th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sidney Doyle in the 28th minute of play forced Beckford's goalkeeper Reuben Reid to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sidney Doyle scored 0-3 in the 35th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Reuben Reid, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 42 minutes into the match, Ashley Driver notched a goal, 0-4, to the right of Beckford's Reuben Reid. Reuben Reid was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ashley Driver in the 45th minute of play forced Beckford's goalkeeper Reuben Reid to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half Hilsea were leading 0-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nat Porter to make the kick off. 51 minutes into the game, Christopher Gray was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Hilsea's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Beckford the free kick. Christopher Gray kicked well hit freekick during the 51st minute of the match. The supporters of Beckford booed when Hilsea was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Christopher Gray didn't get a good kick on the ball. Reuben Reid showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Orson Gamble, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Beckford's goalie and right to Christopher Gray. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Beckford's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. In the 65th minute, Sidney Doyle ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Reuben Reid was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-5. When Ashley Driver came up free with the goalie in the 68th minute, the Hilsea fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ashley Driver couldn't finish the play.
