Maribor's Daniel Skender played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jurica Brus in the 17th minute of play. Daniel Skender showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jurica Brus in the 31st minute of the match. Servacij Kuster hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. 45 minutes into the game, Franko Merčun was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Maribor's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Tabor the free kick. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 44th minute of the game. One of Maribor:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Tabor:s goal. In the 47th minute there was a penalty for Tabor. Tabor were winning 0-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Albin Kolar was the one to do the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Tabor's zone, Blagoje Avšič stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ante Tepe came out of the goal and Blagoje Avšič tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ante Tepe showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ramon Višnjar, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. After having played for 73 minutes, Žolt Emeršič managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tabor's supporters crossed their fingers, but Žolt Emeršič was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ramon Višnjar struck a weak shot in the 81st minute. Ante Tepe didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Maribor. Ante Tepe didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Mladen Slemenjak went, in the 84th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. Maribor's Daniel Skender proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 90th minute of the match, managed to save Maribor from getting a goal against them. Daniel Skender made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Albin Kolar in the 94th minute of play. In the 94th minute, Tabor's Albin Kolar ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Daniel Skender. Daniel Skender yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-2. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
