Viktor Babič was extremely unlucky when he, in the 10th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. In the 22nd minute, Ramon Višnjar got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Blagoje Avšič had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 25 minutes into the game, Ramon Višnjar cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Roggers Ivanuša was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Roggers Ivanuša stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ramon Višnjar's shot from short distance in the 28th minute. 32 minutes into the match, Maribor's goal looked a bit too open when Kris Čemerika came free, but Daniel Skender reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Daniel Skender made a fantastic save in the 33rd minute, when Gregor Ferjan sent off a good shot on target. Roggers Ivanuša made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ramon Višnjar in the 35th minute of play. After 40 minutes, Virgil Tihel mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Maribor and the Skofja Loka MNK players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Maribor getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Viktor Babič in the 41st minute of play forced Maribor's goalkeeper Daniel Skender to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Viktor Babič was the one to do the kick off. When Nevij Backović fell near the penalty area in the 80th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Skofja Loka MNK's protests and gave Nevij Backović a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Skofja Loka MNK's Nevij Backović got a free kick in the 80th minute. In the 81st minute of the match Tadij Martinc sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Roggers Ivanuša skillfully saved the ball. Ramon Višnjar recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 95th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ramon Višnjars short, quick shot in the 99thth minute got Roggers Ivanuša to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Blagoje Avšič during the 101st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 101st match minute, Maribor was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Blagoje Avšič to maneuver through the defense. Maribor played a much better game than Skofja Loka MNK and deserved their victory. The Skofja Loka MNK players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
