The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 13 minutes into the game, Kjell Rudqvist was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Västerhaninge IK's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Liverpool FC the free kick. In the 14th minute, Ivar Månsson sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Västerhaninge IK's Tord Lönn didn't even have to move. Västerhaninge IK's Tord Lönn played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jan Alebom in the 16th minute of play. After 20 minutes, Emanuel Falkrans mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Västerhaninge IK and the Liverpool FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Emanuel Falkrans hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. Edvard Persson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Rudolf Frisck tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Karl-Michael Vidman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, Kristoffer Rydberg managed to get in a good position for a shot. Liverpool FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Kristoffer Rydberg was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tord Lönn breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Kristoffer Rydberg came up free with the goalie in the 32nd minute, the Liverpool FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kristoffer Rydberg couldn't finish the play. Rudolf Frisck took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Karl-Michael Vidman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Liverpool FC's zone, Karl-Michael Vidman stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rudolf Frisck came out of the goal and Karl-Michael Vidman tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 46 minutes into the game, Västerhaninge IK's Karl-Michael Vidman nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Rudolf Frisck made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Jan Alebom made the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Liverpool FC booed when Västerhaninge IK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Linus Dahlbom didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jan Alebom in the 53rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tord Lönn prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Karl-Michael Vidman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Västerhaninge IK's zone, Kristoffer Rydberg stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tord Lönn came out of the goal and Kristoffer Rydberg tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Karl-Michael Vidman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rudolf Frisck having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jan Alebom in the 81st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tord Lönn saved Västerhaninge IK from getting behind. After 83 played minutes Västerhaninge IK got a freekick which was hit by Bertil Sigfridsson. Karl-Michael Vidman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Rudolf Frisck tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jan Alebom fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tord Lönn having to interfere. In the 96th minute Jan Alebom shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tord Lönn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Liverpool FC were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Västerhaninge IK for a fine match.
