In the 8th minute Anton Gustafsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lennart Kilberg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. FC ONT's Göran Ekberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tobias Falck in the 11th minute of play. Lennart Kilberg took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Niclas Rosén, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Fuel BK's zone, Niclas Rosén stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lennart Kilberg came out of the goal and Niclas Rosén tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Niclas Rosén who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 54thth minute tested the skills of Lennart Kilberg when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Gösta Östman managed to get in a good position for a shot. Fuel BK's supporters rose to their feet, but Gösta Östman was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Göran Ekberg breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 58 minutes, Egon Blomqvist mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC ONT and the Fuel BK players grew even worse after the yellow card.
