The audience thought a goal was coming when Esbjörn Tomasson got free with Patrik Tham in the 9th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jakob Hjortsberg might have been able to make a better finish in the 11th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Aleksander Eliasson. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jakob Hjortsberg ran back to his position shaking his head. Esbjörn Tomasson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Esbjörn Tomasson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 17th minute of the match, but Patrik Tham made a huge save. Patrik Tham took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pär Julin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match clock showed 20 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Esbjörn Tomasson sped through Beam Me Up FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Patrik Tham. A wasted opportunity for IFK Luleå. 42 minutes into the match, IFK Luleå's goal looked a bit too open when Jakob Hjortsberg came free, but Aleksander Eliasson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The audience was convinced that Esbjörn Tomasson's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Patrik Tham was relentless in the 58th minute of the game.
