Jimmy Pihlwall started the match with the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jimmy Pihlwall in the 4th minute of play forced Romelanda's goalkeeper Bengt Hellqvist to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lars Wennerqvist struck a weak shot in the 13th minute. Bengt Hellqvist didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hammarby IF. Jimmy Pihlwall sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Lars Wennerqvist in the 18thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Bengt Hellqvist, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. 20 minutes had been played when some careless play by Romelanda's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Aron Melin was slow to take the kick. During this time Hammarby IF's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Aron Melin got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Bengt Hellqvist quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Börje Svanér in the 24th minute of play forced Hammarby IF's goalkeeper Filip Berg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lars Wennerqvist took the ball and in the 33 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Bengt Hellqvist. Bengt Hellqvist dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Romelanda's Börje Svanér got a good chance for a goal in the 45th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Börje Svanér fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Filip Berg having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Börje Svanér made the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute Börje Svanér shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Filip Berg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Agne Kilman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Agne Kilman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 67 minutes, Börje Svanér managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Romelanda's supporters crossed their fingers, but Börje Svanér was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 70 played minutes Hammarby IF got a freekick which was hit by Jonas Wennerqvist. In the 75th minute, Rickard Björkkvist hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Bengt Hellqvist showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jimmy Pihlwall, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. Lars Wennerqvist sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Romelanda's Bengt Hellqvist played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jimmy Pihlwall in the 86th minute of play. Jimmy Pihlwall fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bengt Hellqvist having to interfere. If Agne Kilman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Hammarby IF fans cheered their team off the field, for while Romelanda had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
