When Martin Siöberg came up free with the goalie in the 6th minute, the AFK Fortuna Valla fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Martin Siöberg couldn't finish the play. 7 minutes into the match, Peder Ivarsson notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Ulricehamn's Bo Bremming. Bo Bremming was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After having played for 13 minutes, Michel Söderström managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ulricehamn's supporters crossed their fingers, but Michel Söderström was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Erland Örn kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. Peder Ivarsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bo Bremming having to interfere. Erling Skog came out of the goal in the 24th minute to try and stop a shot by Ulricehamn's Vilhelm Askestät. But to his dismay, Vilhelm Askestät quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. 38 minutes into the match, Ulricehamn's goalkeeper Bo Bremming had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Martin Siöberg. When Kurt Alebäck came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the AFK Fortuna Valla fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kurt Alebäck couldn't finish the play. Bo Bremming made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Karl-Magnus Andersson in the 43rd minute of play. When Martin Siöberg came up free with the goalie in the 47th minute, the AFK Fortuna Valla fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Martin Siöberg couldn't finish the play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

In the 67th minute, Ulricehamn's Ingvar Qvarnström dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-2. After a defensive mix-up in AFK Fortuna Valla's zone, Michel Söderström stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Erling Skog came out of the goal and Michel Söderström tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Bo Bremming showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Martin Siöberg in the 73rd minute of the match. Peder Ivarsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Martin Siöberg in the 81st minute of play forced Ulricehamn's goalkeeper Bo Bremming to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Peder Ivarsson might have been able to make a better finish in the 82nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Bo Bremming. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Peder Ivarsson ran back to his position shaking his head. If Martin Siöberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Peder Ivarsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bo Bremming having to interfere. If Michel Söderström had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 89th match minute, Ulricehamn was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vilhelm Askestät to maneuver through the defense. When Martin Siöberg came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the AFK Fortuna Valla fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Martin Siöberg couldn't finish the play. The Ulricehamn supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Ulricehamn would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
