The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Backalagens GOIF booed when Stigen BK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jörgen Forsman didn't get a good kick on the ball. A hard shot 12 in the game by Yngve Mossberg from a close distance when the talented Patrik Bergdal managed to make a qualified save. Stigen BK's players were relieved. 15 minutes into the match, Backalagens GOIF's goal looked a bit too open when Staffan Rönn came free, but Karl-Michael Walmarsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 15th minute, Arman Landin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tim Backlund took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 16th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Karl-Michael Walmarsson. Backalagens GOIF's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 18th minute the ball was on its way in behind Backalagens GOIF's goalkeeper Karl-Michael Walmarsson, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 19th minute the ball was on its way in behind Stigen BK's goalkeeper Patrik Bergdal, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Ian Östman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. Karl-Michael Walmarsson was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 32 minutes, Ingvar Cane mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Stigen BK and the Backalagens GOIF players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Stigen BK getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Ingvar Cane hit a great ball. When Lennart Möller fell near the penalty area in the 33rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Backalagens GOIF's protests and gave Lennart Möller a yellow card for diving instead. Lennart Möller kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. Carl Kruuse took the ball and in the 35 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Karl-Michael Walmarsson. Karl-Michael Walmarsson dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Lennart Möller received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Patrik Bergdal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Stigen BK's Greger Västerstrand got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Karl-Michael Walmarsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Greger Västerstrand in the 45th minute of play. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Gunnar Holmgren fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Patrik Bergdal having to interfere. After some careless play in the Stigen BK defense, Yngve Mossberg kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Patrik Bergdal. The Stigen BK fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Patrik Bergdal should have stopped the shot. Gunnar Holmgren's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Patrik Bergdal read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 67th minute of play. Backalagens GOIF's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Carl Kruuse 69 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-3. In the 71st minute Staffan Rönn shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Karl-Michael Walmarsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Backalagens GOIF getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Gunnar Holmgren hit a great ball. Gunnar Holmgren recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 77th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Gunnar Holmgren received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Patrik Bergdal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ian Östman's late challenge caught a Stigen BK's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ian Östman helped the player get up and apologised. In the 83rd minute, Ian Östman left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Backalagens GOIF fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-3. After some fancy dribbling in the 89th minute, Gunnar Holmgren managed to get in a good position for a shot. Backalagens GOIF's supporters rose to their feet, but Gunnar Holmgren was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Patrik Bergdal breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a little luck, Backalagens GOIF's Karl-Michael Walmarsson got control of the ball when Staffan Rönn tried to sneak it across the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Yngve Mossberg managed to get in a good position for a shot. Backalagens GOIF's supporters rose to their feet, but Yngve Mossberg was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Patrik Bergdal breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in Stigen BK's zone, Yngve Mossberg stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Patrik Bergdal came out of the goal and Yngve Mossberg tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the final whistle went the supporters of Stigen BK were delighted that their team had defeated the much more dominant Backalagens GOIF side.
