In the 3rd minute, Albert Bröms got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Sälen's zone, Albert Bröms stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Charlie Falk came out of the goal and Albert Bröms tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Hellas Malmö FC's Jarl Österlund shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 11th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Charlie Falk but with some difficulty. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Måns Åkesson in the 19th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Norbert Chappuis saved Hellas Malmö FC from getting behind. Patrik Björkdahl fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Charlie Falk having to interfere. Charlie Falk didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Patrik Björkdahl went, in the 23rd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Albert Bröms sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Sälen's zone, Patrik Björkdahl stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Charlie Falk came out of the goal and Patrik Björkdahl tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 33 minutes into the game, George Löfgren cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Charlie Falk was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Norbert Chappuis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Karl-Ove Boman in the 42nd minute of play. After 47 played minutes Hellas Malmö FC got a freekick which was hit by Dick Brenner. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Albert Bröms to strike the kick off in the second half. After having played for 52 minutes, Patrik Björkdahl managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hellas Malmö FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Patrik Björkdahl was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 55th minute the ball was on its way in behind Hellas Malmö FC's goalkeeper Norbert Chappuis, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Albert Bröms in the 59th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Charlie Falk prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Måns Åkesson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Norbert Chappuis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Norbert Chappuis stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Måns Åkesson's shot from short distance in the 65th minute. After 66 played minutes Hellas Malmö FC got a freekick which was hit by Dick Brenner. If Albert Bröms had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ingvar Alebäck got free with Norbert Chappuis in the 86th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a little luck, Hellas Malmö FC's Norbert Chappuis got control of the ball when Ingvar Alebäck tried to sneak it across the goal line. 89 minutes into the match, Albert Bröms notched a goal, 3-0, to the right of Sälen's Charlie Falk. Charlie Falk was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The long shot by Bernt Arenstedt in the 92nd minute really tested Norbert Chappuis's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Dick Brenner kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. There was no doubt that Hellas Malmö FC were the better team. Hellas Malmö FC's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
