Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Busby Babes's Carl Stephansson in the 9th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Mattias Söderquist was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Stjärnhov IF through an amazing save. Carl Stephansson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Busby Babes booed when Stjärnhov IF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alf Björnsson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rikard Albäck sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rikard Albäck fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mattias Söderquist having to interfere. Håkan Alberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Charlie Abelsson in the 41st minute of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Carl Stephansson made the kick off in the second half. In the 56thth minute of the game Rikard Albäck who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Stjärnhov IF's Mattias Söderquist was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 60 minutes into the game, Carl Stephansson cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Mattias Söderquist was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Rikard Albäck fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mattias Söderquist having to interfere. If Carl Stephansson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mattias Söderquist took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carl Stephansson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Håkan Alberg made a fantastic save in the 73rd minute, when Charlie Abelsson sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carl Stephansson in the 74th minute of play forced Stjärnhov IF's goalkeeper Mattias Söderquist to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Carl Stephansson scored 3-0 in the 78th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Mattias Söderquist, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Rikard Albäck struck a weak shot in the 89th minute. Mattias Söderquist didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Busby Babes. After a defensive mix-up in Stjärnhov IF's zone, Carl Stephansson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mattias Söderquist came out of the goal and Carl Stephansson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. There was no doubt that Busby Babes were the better team. Busby Babes's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
