The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Aston Villa FC's Kåre Hellström played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Charles Andersson in the 3rd minute of play. 6 minutes into the match, Charles Andersson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Kåre Hellström. Aston Villa FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Charles Andersson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Staffan Skog recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 26th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Kåre Hellström made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Charles Andersson in the 28th minute of play. In the 31st match minute, Grytgöl was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Christian Sjö to maneuver through the defense. Grytgöl's Staffan Skog got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Aston Villa FC's Kåre Hellström played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Staffan Skog in the 36th minute of play. Kåre Hellström took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Charles Andersson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Charles Andersson in the 40th minute of play forced Aston Villa FC's goalkeeper Kåre Hellström to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Charles Andersson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Grytgöl's Charles Andersson got a good chance for a goal in the 45th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Charles Andersson made a kick off. Peter Blom charged in rather forcefully in the 55th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Peter Blom the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Aston Villa FC's Peter Blom got a free kick in the 55th minute. When Staffan Skog came up free with the goalie in the 62nd minute, the Grytgöl fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Staffan Skog couldn't finish the play. Peter Blom blasted a shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Robin Abrahamsson having to make a save. Grytgöl's Charles Andersson got a good chance for a goal in the 66th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Charles Andersson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Kåre Hellström tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 78th minute the ball was on its way in behind Grytgöl's goalkeeper Robin Abrahamsson, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Conny Tolsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Charles Andersson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 81st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 86thth minute of the game Charles Andersson who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Aston Villa FC's Kåre Hellström was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 87th minute, Staffan Skog got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Charles Andersson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kåre Hellström having to interfere. Kåre Hellström was a little too slow when Charles Andersson got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 94th minute. The score was now 1-3. Grytgöl played a much better game than Aston Villa FC and deserved their victory. The Aston Villa FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
