The supporters of IF Hisingen booed when Heberg was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Johnny Wallengren didn't get a good kick on the ball. IF Hisingen's Manfred Sandström played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Karl-Ove Willig in the 17th minute of play. In the 18th minute Billy Stenqvist shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thomas Colin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Heberg's Dennis Jakobsson got a free kick in the 19th minute. 26 minutes into the match, Heberg's goal looked a bit too open when Billy Stenqvist came free, but Thomas Colin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Klas Bergfeldt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Thomas Colin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Björn Wiman, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Billy Stenqvist couldn't finish the play. A collision led to IF Hisingen getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Bernt Fransson hit a great ball. The audience was convinced that Billy Stenqvist's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Thomas Colin was relentless in the 45th minute of the game. Klas Bergfeldt might have been able to make a better finish in the 47th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Manfred Sandström. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Andreas Törnqvist hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. 61 minutes into the match, Heberg's Klas Bergfeldt sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Manfred Sandström narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When Bernt Fransson fell near the penalty area in the 62nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored IF Hisingen's protests and gave Bernt Fransson a yellow card for diving instead. Dennis Jakobsson's late challenge caught a IF Hisingen's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card.
