Roger Backlund's late challenge caught a Höganäs IFK's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Djurgården's Gösta Fågel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Börje Ståhlberg in the 11th minute of play. 16 minutes into the game, Mårten Bergström was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Höganäs IFK's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Djurgården the free kick. The supporters of Djurgården booed when Höganäs IFK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mårten Bergström didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 20th minute, Peder Lingren left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Djurgården fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Gösta Fågel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mårten Bergström, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 34 minutes into the game, Kjell Tidén was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Djurgården's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Höganäs IFK the free kick. After 35 played minutes Djurgården got a freekick which was hit by Kjell Tidén. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Höganäs IFK reached it. If Peder Lingren had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Peder Lingren might have been able to make a better finish in the 41st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jim Lindholm. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Peder Lingren ran back to his position shaking his head. Gösta Fågel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Stefan Browall, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Djurgården:s Gösta Fågel showed great skill when he stopped Alvar Vallengren:s penalty. Alvar Vallengren did an outstanding performance 48 minutes into the match, when he by himself got past the opposing team's defense and with a quick scored 1-1 to the right of an irritated Gösta Fågel in the goal.

Jan-Ove Jonasson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jim Lindholm having to interfere. 68 minutes into the match, Djurgården's goal looked a bit too open when Stefan Browall came free, but Gösta Fågel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mårten Bergström's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Gösta Fågel firmly grabbed it by the left post. If Jan-Ove Jonasson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jan-Ove Jonasson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 73rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 74 minutes into the match, Höganäs IFK's goal looked a bit too open when Jan-Ove Jonasson came free, but Jim Lindholm reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Höganäs IFK's Jim Lindholm played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Frank Andreasson in the 78th minute of play. 79 minutes into the match, Höganäs IFK's goal looked a bit too open when Jan-Ove Jonasson came free, but Jim Lindholm reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Kjell Tidén hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. Jan-Ove Jonasson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jim Lindholm having to make a save. In the 87th minute Kennet Lindholm shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jim Lindholm saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jim Lindholm made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kennet Lindholm in the 89th minute of play. 90 minutes into the game, Carl Nordkvist cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Jim Lindholm was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Jan-Ove Jonasson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Jim Lindholm tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Djurgården fully deserved thier win.
