In the 8th minute Karl-Axel Heggert shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sigvard Albohm saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Arvid Wallengren recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 13th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Sigvard Albohm made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Karl-Axel Heggert in the 16th minute of play. Edmund Kling received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Billy Bengtsson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Axel Andersson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Axel Andersson might have been able to make a better finish in the 29th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Billy Bengtsson. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Axel Andersson ran back to his position shaking his head. 31 minutes into the match, Helsingborgs IF's goal looked a bit too open when Karl-Axel Heggert came free, but Sigvard Albohm reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 33rd minute Karl-Axel Heggert shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sigvard Albohm saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Erik Ahlin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Sigvard Albohm tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Karl-Axel Heggert had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 44 minutes into the game, Erik Ahlin cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Sigvard Albohm was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Karl-Axel Heggert made a kick off. Helsingborgs IF's Sigvard Albohm proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to save Helsingborgs IF from getting a goal against them. In the 57th minute, Mårten Malmberg made a precise shot to the right of Sigvard Albohm. Helsingborgs IF's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Arvid Wallengren charged in rather forcefully in the 62nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Arvid Wallengren the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 63rd match minute, Helsingborgs IF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arvid Wallengren to maneuver through the defense. Sigvard Albohm showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mårten Malmberg, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. If Axel Andersson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. George Ahlberg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Billy Bengtsson having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Eksjö IFK's zone, George Ahlberg stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Billy Bengtsson came out of the goal and George Ahlberg tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 77th minute of the match Viktor Siggesson shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Billy Bengtsson showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After 78 minutes, Andréas Månsson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Eksjö IFK and the Helsingborgs IF players grew even worse after the yellow card. Axel Andersson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Billy Bengtsson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Axel Andersson's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Billy Bengtsson was relentless in the 87th minute of the game. In the 95th minute, George Ahlberg hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The Eksjö IFK supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Eksjö IFK would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
