The supporters of Liverpool FC booed when Varnhem IK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Per Koch didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience was convinced that Anders Bjurström's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but 姚邦政 was relentless in the 11th minute of the game. 姚邦政 made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anders Bjurström in the 16th minute of play. If Anders Bjurström had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 19th match minute, Varnhem IK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anders Törnkvist to maneuver through the defense. After 20 minutes, Ingvar Lundqvist mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Liverpool FC and the Varnhem IK players grew even worse after the yellow card. Alex Nyman's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Aron Arhenius read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 38th minute of play. Aron Arhenius came out of the goal in the 39th minute to try and stop a shot by Liverpool FC's Valdemar Håkansson. But to his dismay, Valdemar Håkansson quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

Aron Arhenius showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Valdemar Håkansson, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Valdemar Håkansson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Liverpool FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Valdemar Håkansson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Aron Arhenius breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
