Sven-Erik Högström didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Torsten Aspengren went, in the 7th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. After some careless play in the FK Ekebo defense, Torsten Aspengren kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Sven-Erik Högström. The FK Ekebo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sven-Erik Högström should have stopped the shot. Marko Sundin could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 14th minute of the match, but Allan Liljeström made a huge save. Merts Fotbollskola's Allan Liljeström proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 15th minute of the match, managed to save Merts Fotbollskola from getting a goal against them. A collision led to FK Ekebo getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Andréas Delin hit a great ball. Åke Sävström took the ball and in the 21 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Sven-Erik Högström. Sven-Erik Högström dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3. A sloppy throw-in by Andréas Delin in the 26th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Merts Fotbollskola's Christer Kilman. 29 minutes into the match, Torsten Aspengren notched a goal, 1-4, to the right of FK Ekebo's Sven-Erik Högström. Sven-Erik Högström was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Allan Liljeström took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Börje Nilsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Merts Fotbollskola's Allan Liljeström played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Viggo Engström in the 34th minute of play. Sven-Erik Högström showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jerry Spets, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. Sven-Erik Högström made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Åke Sävström in the 37th minute of play. After 38 minutes, Vilgot Salqvist mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FK Ekebo and the Merts Fotbollskola players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, FK Ekebo's Vilgot Salqvist got a free kick in the 38th minute. FK Ekebo made a substitution. Nils-Åke Hääger replaced Börje Nilsson. The supporters of Merts Fotbollskola booed when FK Ekebo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vilgot Salqvist didn't get a good kick on the ball. 43 minutes into the game, Merts Fotbollskola's Åke Sävström nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Sven-Erik Högström made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-5. When Åke Sävström fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Merts Fotbollskola's protests and gave Åke Sävström a yellow card for diving instead. Åke Sävström hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nils-Åke Hääger got free with Allan Liljeström in the 48th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-5 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Nils-Åke Hääger made the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Merts Fotbollskola booed when FK Ekebo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marko Sundin didn't get a good kick on the ball. Allan Liljeström made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marko Sundin in the 77th minute of play. Allan Liljeström took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nils-Åke Hääger, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 80 minutes into the match, Merts Fotbollskola's goal looked a bit too open when Nils-Åke Hääger came free, but Allan Liljeström reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Andy Jönsätt charged in rather forcefully in the 85th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Andy Jönsätt the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Andy Jönsätt kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. After 88 played minutes, FK Ekebo's Robert Hermansson shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Allan Liljeström came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in FK Ekebo reached it. In the 90th match minute, FK Ekebo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Morgan Törnkvist to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, FK Ekebo's Sven-Erik Högström got control of the ball when Torsten Aspengren tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Merts Fotbollskola's zone, Viggo Engström stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Allan Liljeström came out of the goal and Viggo Engström tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
