The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 9th minute, IF Älgarna's Ronny Hagström dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. Martin Lekberg made a fantastic save in the 12th minute, when John Olofsson sent off a good shot on target. Martin Lekberg didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Sten Uggstedt went, in the 17th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-0 was the resulting score. John Olofsson took the ball and in the 25 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Martin Lekberg. Martin Lekberg dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 6-0. Sten Uggstedt might have been able to make a better finish in the 28th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Martin Lekberg. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Sten Uggstedt ran back to his position shaking his head. When the match had gone on for 35 minutes, Ronny Hagström took a quick shot and it went in 7-0 without a chance for Martin Lekberg to make any attempt to save it. Giffarna's Martin Lekberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ronny Hagström in the 38th minute of play. Martin Lekberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sten Uggstedt in the 42nd minute of play. 43 minutes into the match, Giffarna's goalkeeper Martin Lekberg had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Harald Biörling. Giffarna's Martin Lekberg proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 45th minute of the match, managed to save Giffarna from getting a goal against them. Giffarna's defense didn't have a chance, in the 46th minute, when Sten Uggstedt scored to the left of an out of position Martin Lekberg, making the score, 8-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Sten Uggstedt to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, John Olofsson made a precise shot to the right of Martin Lekberg. Giffarna's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 9-0. Martin Lekberg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sten Uggstedt, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. After 56th play minutes John Olofsson shot 10-0, a short shot which went by Martin Lekberg and just under the crossbar into goal. If Sten Uggstedt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Martin Lekberg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sten Uggstedt, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Sten Uggstedt in the 63rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Martin Lekberg saved Giffarna from getting behind. After 63 minutes, Sten Uggstedt made it 11-0 with a short kick to the right side. Giffarna's Martin Lekberg tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Ronny Hagström scored 12-0 in the 66th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Martin Lekberg, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 69 minutes of play, IF Älgarna's Ronny Hagström made it 13-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Martin Lekberg was left in no man's land by his defense there! After some fancy dribbling in the 73rd minute, Jonny Månsson managed to get in a good position for a shot. IF Älgarna's supporters rose to their feet, but Jonny Månsson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Martin Lekberg breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jonny Månsson struck a weak shot in the 74th minute. Martin Lekberg didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for IF Älgarna. 76 minutes into the match, Ronny Hagström had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Martin Lekberg. Giffarna's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ronny Hagström was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 14-0. 80 minutes into the game, IF Älgarna's Sten Uggstedt nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Martin Lekberg made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 15-0. Martin Lekberg took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from John Olofsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Giffarna booed when IF Älgarna was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Camillo Aceto didn't get a good kick on the ball. John Olofsson took the ball and in the 89 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Martin Lekberg. Martin Lekberg dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 16-0. John Olofsson scored 17-0 in the 95th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Martin Lekberg, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. IF Älgarna fully deserved thier win.
