After 5 played minutes Karlshamns AAK got a freekick which was hit by Jens Uggstedt. 5 minutes into the match, Karlshamns AAK's goalkeeper Torsten Gullesson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Javi Frentzen. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Greger Hammarberg in the 10th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ingemar Kling prevented the ball from getting in the gole. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Greger Hammarberg in the 10th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ingemar Kling saved Hägersten from getting behind. Torsten Gullesson was a little too slow when Epifanio Acosta got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 12th minute. The score was now 1-0. Torsten Gullesson made a fantastic save in the 16th minute, when Epifanio Acosta sent off a good shot on target. Javi Frentzen made a well adjusted shot against goal in the 16thth minute coming free in front of the goal, but Torsten Gullesson would not let the ball come through at any expense and made a nice save by the left post. Javi Frentzen had several of the Karlshamns AAK's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 17 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 2-0 score and a disappointed Torsten Gullesson as he didn't even see the shot coming. Torsten Gullesson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Erdoğan Toygun, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 24th minute of the match, Erdoğan Toygun tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Torsten Gullesson saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 25 minutes into the match, Javi Frentzen notched a goal, 3-0, to the right of Karlshamns AAK's Torsten Gullesson. Torsten Gullesson was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 29th minute Epifanio Acosta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Torsten Gullesson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sverker Sundling got free with Torsten Gullesson in the 32nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 34 minutes Karlshamns AAK's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Edvard Jespersson who took care of the corner kick. At last the ball reached Niklas Bodin at the corner, ending with a kick to difficult to stop for the goalkeeper of Karlshamns AAK. 5-0. Greger Hammarberg blasted a shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ingemar Kling having to make a save. Torsten Gullesson acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 39th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Edvard Jespersson. Ingemar Kling made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Greger Hammarberg in the 44th minute of play. Ingemar Kling showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joachim Nyman, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. Torsten Gullesson made an important save on a dangerous shot by Sverker Sundling in the 47th minute. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Greger Hammarberg to make the kick off. The audience was convinced that Joachim Nyman's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ingemar Kling was relentless in the 51st minute of the game. In the 51st match minute, Hägersten was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Javi Frentzen to maneuver through the defense. Torsten Gullesson came out of the goal in the 54th minute to try and stop a shot by Hägersten's Niklas Bodin. But to his dismay, Niklas Bodin quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 6-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Joachim Nyman got free with Ingemar Kling in the 57th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 59thth minute of the game Javi Frentzen who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Karlshamns AAK's Torsten Gullesson was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a rather tough play, Hägersten's Kjell-Arne Biörnberg got a free kick in the 76th minute. Karlshamns AAK's Torsten Gullesson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Javi Frentzen in the 79th minute of play. Greger Hammarberg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 91st minute, Sverker Sundling ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Torsten Gullesson was frozen by the shot and now it was 8-1. For all the effort they put into the match, the Karlshamns AAK players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Hägersten.
