Spectators: 7651 (Terracing: 5740, Seating: 1759, VIP seats: 152) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Karl-Magnus Martinsson kicked off to start the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jörgen Nordström in the 7th minute of play forced Sunderland FC's goalkeeper Rutger Olsmann to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jörgen Nordström struck a weak shot in the 11th minute. Rutger Olsmann didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Frölunda. Niklas Kollberg charged in rather forcefully in the 19th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Niklas Kollberg the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 19th minute, Niklas Kollberg hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Björn Gregersson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 21st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 24th minute, Vidar Qvarnström ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jimmy Adie was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Jimmy Adie took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Björn Gregersson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 30 played minutes Sunderland FC got a freekick which was hit by Alfons Cane. In the 32nd minute, Joakim Andersson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Jimmy Adie took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Björn Gregersson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Björn Gregersson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Jimmy Adie tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Henry Grönlund got free with Jimmy Adie in the 37th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Kenny Hagberg blasted a shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Rutger Olsmann having to make a save. 40 minutes into the match, Jörgen Nordström had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Rutger Olsmann. Sunderland FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jörgen Nordström was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Joakim Andersson charged in rather forcefully in the 44th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Henry Grönlund made the kick off in the second half. When Björn Gregersson came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the Sunderland FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Björn Gregersson couldn't finish the play. Jimmy Adie didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Vidar Qvarnström went, in the 57th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jörgen Nordström in the 61st minute of play forced Sunderland FC's goalkeeper Rutger Olsmann to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 67th minute Henry Grönlund shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jimmy Adie saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Karl-Magnus Martinssons short, quick shot in the 72ndth minute got Rutger Olsmann to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The supporters of Sunderland FC booed when FC Frölunda was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jörgen Nordström didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jörgen Nordström might have been able to make a better finish in the 89th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rutger Olsmann. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jörgen Nordström ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 89th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sunderland FC's goalkeeper Rutger Olsmann, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. FC Frölunda's Karl-Magnus Martinsson got a good chance for a goal in the 90th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 95 minutes into the match, FC Frölunda's Jörgen Nordström sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Rutger Olsmann narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 96th minute, Jörgen Nordström got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
