Robert Pihlbergs short, quick shot in the 12thth minute got Östen Ahlbom to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alf Möllgren got free with Östen Ahlbom in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kåre Bocklund in the 18th minute of play forced Manchester City's goalkeeper Orvar Kullgren to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 22 minutes into the match, Manchester City's goal looked a bit too open when Kåre Bocklund came free, but Orvar Kullgren reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Östen Ahlbom showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Robert Pihlberg, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. In the 25th minute Robert Pihlberg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Östen Ahlbom saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match had gone on for 29 minutes, Kåre Bocklund put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Orvar Kullgren. Kåre Bocklund sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Östen Ahlbom made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alf Möllgren in the 40th minute of play. Östen Ahlbom took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Karl Ström, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Kåre Bocklund struck a weak shot in the 47th minute. Orvar Kullgren didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Södermalm FK. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Robert Pihlberg to strike the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Karl-Johan Hagberg got free with Orvar Kullgren in the 50th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Östen Ahlbom came out of the goal in the 56th minute to try and stop a shot by Manchester City's Robert Pihlberg. But to his dismay, Robert Pihlberg quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Orvar Kullgren made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kåre Bocklund in the 59th minute of play. Kåre Bocklund received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Orvar Kullgren tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Lars Nässén fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Orvar Kullgren having to interfere.
