The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 12th minute Edward Laba shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alfred Boruta saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Edward Laba sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Olaf Lenertej came up free with the goalie in the 18th minute, the ZKS Stal Stalowa Wola fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Olaf Lenertej couldn't finish the play. Radomir Rudy kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. Alfred Boruta made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edward Laba in the 22nd minute of play. When the match had gone on for 26 minutes, Edward Laba took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Alfred Boruta to make any attempt to save it. After a defensive mix-up in ZKS Stal Stalowa Wola's zone, Pawel Moryl stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alfred Boruta came out of the goal and Pawel Moryl tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpected shot in the 33rd minute by Pawel Moryl got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. If Olaf Lenertej had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Edward Laba recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in ZKS Stal Stalowa Wola's zone, Edward Laba stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alfred Boruta came out of the goal and Edward Laba tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edward Laba in the 44th minute of play forced ZKS Stal Stalowa Wola's goalkeeper Alfred Boruta to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Edward Laba stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Pawel Moryl received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Alfred Boruta tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 57th match minute, Manchester United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pawel Moryl to maneuver through the defense. Aureliusz Fleszar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Boguslaw Rode tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 61st minute Aureliusz Fleszar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Boguslaw Rode saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Pawel Moryl had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 66 minutes, Edward Laba managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Manchester United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Edward Laba was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Edward Laba in the 70th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Alfred Boruta saved ZKS Stal Stalowa Wola from getting behind. If Pawel Moryl had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 77th minute, Aureliusz Fleszar reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Boguslaw Rode. The goal made the score 1-2. Manchester United's Boguslaw Rode proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 86th minute of the match, managed to save Manchester United from getting a goal against them. A hard shot 88 in the game by Mieszko Zawaski from a close distance when the talented Boguslaw Rode managed to make a qualified save. Manchester United's players were relieved. After 89 played minutes Manchester United got a freekick which was hit by Remigiusz Zdanowicz. After a defensive mix-up in ZKS Stal Stalowa Wola's zone, Pawel Moryl stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alfred Boruta came out of the goal and Pawel Moryl tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. ZKS Stal Stalowa Wola had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
