Spectators: 6735 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1735, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Korneliusz Pierz got the match started through his kick off. If Gilbert Michalski had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lech Pysz hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. Ksawery Hodas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tadeusz Marchlewicz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 12th minute Tadeusz Marchlewicz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ksawery Hodas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tadeusz Marchlewicz took the ball and in the 14 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ksawery Hodas. Ksawery Hodas dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. When Korneliusz Pierz came up free with the goalie in the 21st minute, the FC BASEL fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Korneliusz Pierz couldn't finish the play. Youri Ubels showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Remigiusz Zawacki in the 24th minute of the match. Korneliusz Pierz took the ball and in the 28 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ksawery Hodas. Ksawery Hodas dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. After 31 minutes, Mariusz Kluska mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC BASEL and the Piast Legnica players grew even worse after the yellow card. Mariusz Kluska kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. Gilbert Michalski received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Youri Ubels tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Korneliusz Pierz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Youri Ubels was out of position in the 47 minute of play, and Gilbert Michalski capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Gilbert Michalski really showed his touch with that goal: 1-2. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gilbert Michalski stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Ksawery Hodas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Korneliusz Pierz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Korneliusz Pierz's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ksawery Hodas was relentless in the 55th minute of the game. 56 minutes into the match, Piast Legnica's goalkeeper Ksawery Hodas had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tadeusz Marchlewicz. The Piast Legnica fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-2. After 63 minutes of play, Piast Legnica's Gilbert Michalski made it 3-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Youri Ubels was left in no man's land by his defense there! Tadeusz Marchlewicz could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 66th minute of the match, but Ksawery Hodas made a huge save. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gilbert Michalski in the 69th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Youri Ubels saved FC BASEL from getting behind. A collision led to FC BASEL getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Mariusz Kluska hit a great ball. In the 71st minute, Korneliusz Pierz ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ksawery Hodas was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-3. In the 75th minute, Tadeusz Marchlewicz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 79th match minute, Piast Legnica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lech Pysz to maneuver through the defense. Gilbert Michalski received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Youri Ubels tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Youri Ubels made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gilbert Michalski in the 84th minute of play. Youri Ubels showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Remigiusz Zawacki, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. 95 minutes into the match, Gilbert Michalski notched a goal, 4-3, to the right of FC BASEL's Youri Ubels. Youri Ubels was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Piast Legnica fans cheered their team off the field, for while FC BASEL had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
