When Leszek Podwojski came up free with the goalie in the 10th minute, the Legia Warszawa fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Leszek Podwojski couldn't finish the play. 11 minutes into the match, KS Mazovia Płock's goal looked a bit too open when Karol Tomiczek came free, but Lucjan Falke reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bartlomiej Buczko could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 15th minute of the match, but Lucjan Falke made a huge save. After a defensive mix-up in KS Mazovia Płock's zone, Karol Tomiczek stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lucjan Falke came out of the goal and Karol Tomiczek tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 19th minute, Witomir Blicharz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. KS Mazovia Płock's Gwidon Maziarz got a good chance for a goal in the 20th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Bartlomiej Buczko received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Lucjan Falke tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 27th minute the ball was on its way in behind Legia Warszawa's goalkeeper Zenon Pleban, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gwidon Maziarz in the 28th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Zenon Pleban prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Zenon Pleban showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Palmiro Nunes, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. Zenon Pleban took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Waclaw Zawacki, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gwidon Maziarz in the 34th minute of play forced Legia Warszawa's goalkeeper Zenon Pleban to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lucjan Falke didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Bartlomiej Buczko went, in the 36th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. In the 48th minute of the match KS Mazovia Płock got a corner. Legia Warszawa's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Abraham Cristaldo ran over to the corner to take the kick. Abraham Cristaldo made a great header on KS Mazovia Płock's corner, it was just that Legia Warszawa's Zenon Pleban managed to reach the ball for a save.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Gwidon Maziarz to strike the kick off in the second half. KS Mazovia Płock's Lucjan Falke played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leszek Podwojski in the 51st minute of play. Legia Warszawa were awarded a corner in the 53th minute after KS Mazovia Płock's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Qiu Yang took the corner. After some fancy dribbling in the 95th minute, Karol Tomiczek managed to get in a good position for a shot. Legia Warszawa's supporters rose to their feet, but Karol Tomiczek was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lucjan Falke breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
