CSKA Dynamo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Petter Aarhus was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 28 played minutes Båtsfjord got a freekick which was hit by Sverre Holmberg. Sverre Holmberg blasted a shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jan-Ivar Oshaug having to make a save. Eskil Ranum fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jan-Ivar Oshaug having to interfere. A sloppy throw-in by Preben Bjørnsen in the 37th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Båtsfjord's Carl Slettebø. Felix Vindenes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Jan-Ivar Oshaug tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 39th match minute, CSKA Dynamo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Stig-Inge Thune to maneuver through the defense. Sverre Holmberg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jan-Ivar Oshaug having to interfere. After a rather tough play, CSKA Dynamo's Stig-Inge Thune got a free kick in the 45th minute. Jan-Ivar Oshaug showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sverre Holmberg, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Sverre Holmberg made the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the match, Gjøran Aure had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Halvard Mannes. Båtsfjord's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gjøran Aure was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Halvard Mannes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Thomas Valberg in the 57th minute of the match. With his leg Jan-Ivar Oshaug managed to avoid a goal in the 59thth minute, when Båtsfjord's Sverre Holmberg fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Tor-Ivar Kolstø charged in rather forcefully in the 60th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Tor-Ivar Kolstø the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Hans Fuglerud during the 63rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, CSKA Dynamo's Hans Fuglerud got a free kick in the 64th minute. A collision led to Båtsfjord getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Carl Slettebø hit a great ball. Eskil Ranum sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Felix Vindenes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 84th minute of the match, but Jan-Ivar Oshaug made a huge save. In the 85th match minute, Båtsfjord was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kenneth Rosseland to maneuver through the defense. In the 91st minute, Stig-Inge Thune hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 94 minutes into the match, CSKA Dynamo's goal looked a bit too open when Sverre Holmberg came free, but Jan-Ivar Oshaug reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 95th minute, Kim-André Svarstad made a precise shot to the right of Halvard Mannes. Båtsfjord's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. The CSKA Dynamo players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
