In the 8th match minute, Liverpool FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Runar Husby to maneuver through the defense. Svein Johannessen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vebjørn Knapstad in the 9th minute of play. Andrey Shevchenko received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Lars-Olav Nordlien tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Frode Drage in the 14th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Lars-Olav Nordlien saved Storbukt IF from getting behind. In the 25th match minute, Storbukt IF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tor-Andre Storesund to maneuver through the defense. Frode Drage struck a weak shot in the 26th minute. Lars-Olav Nordlien didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Liverpool FC. Lars-Olav Nordlien showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Karsten Nyborg, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. With his leg Lars-Olav Nordlien managed to avoid a goal in the 29thth minute, when Liverpool FC's Frode Drage fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Svein Johannessen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Christoffer Serigstad in the 30th minute of the match. 38 minutes into the match, Storbukt IF's goal looked a bit too open when Frode Drage came free, but Lars-Olav Nordlien reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Frode Drage in the 39thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Lars-Olav Nordlien, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Christian Daae sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lars-Olav Nordlien made a fantastic save in the 44th minute, when Frode Drage sent off a good shot on target. When Christian Daae came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the Liverpool FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Christian Daae couldn't finish the play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Johannes Paus stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Lars-Olav Nordlien stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Frode Drage's shot from short distance in the 55th minute. Andrey Shevchenko might have been able to make a better finish in the 56th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Lars-Olav Nordlien. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Andrey Shevchenko ran back to his position shaking his head. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Frode Drage in the 57th managed to get into a good position. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 67th minute Frode Drage shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lars-Olav Nordlien saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Torstein Mellingen charged in rather forcefully in the 74th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Torstein Mellingen the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Storbukt IF's Torstein Mellingen got a free kick in the 74th minute. When Rasmus Eriksen fell near the penalty area in the 78th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Liverpool FC's protests and gave Rasmus Eriksen a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Liverpool FC getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Rasmus Eriksen hit a great ball. Frode Drage received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. In the 85th minute, Frode Drage got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the referee ended the match the Liverpool FC players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
