Tjeerd de Freitas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Harm Reitsema in the 9th minute of play. In the 11th minute of the match, Otto Heuvel got a very nice opportunity to score, but Tommie Evenhuis was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. After 15 minutes of play, Donkereind's Chris Roeles made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Tjeerd de Freitas was left in no man's land by his defense there! The throw-in from Tonnie Bakker in the 21st minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Donkereind's Nigel Peeters. After a rather tough play, FC Killer Elite's Falco Carel got a free kick in the 24th minute. In the 29th play minute Klaas Grijpstra came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Tommie Evenhuis. 1-1. In the 35th match minute, Donkereind was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sebastiaan van Rhijn to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 36 minutes, Carel van der Tol managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Killer Elite's supporters crossed their fingers, but Carel van der Tol was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Bob Karelse scored 2-1 in the 38th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Tommie Evenhuis, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After a defensive mix-up in FC Killer Elite's zone, Martien van der Haar stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tjeerd de Freitas came out of the goal and Martien van der Haar tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Chris Roeles in the 45th minute of play forced FC Killer Elite's goalkeeper Tjeerd de Freitas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the FC Killer Elite defense, Chris Roeles kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tjeerd de Freitas. The FC Killer Elite fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tjeerd de Freitas should have stopped the shot. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Chris Roeles was the one to do the kick off. A collision led to Donkereind getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. David Meijering hit a great ball. In the 58th minute of the match Carel van der Tol shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Tommie Evenhuis showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Donkereind's Chris Roeles got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Harm Reitsema had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Harm Reitsema sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of FC Killer Elite booed when Donkereind was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nikos Mastoras didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to FC Killer Elite getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Bob Karelse hit a great ball. If Edward van Zeist had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edward van Zeist in the 79th minute of play forced Donkereind's goalkeeper Tommie Evenhuis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Donkereind were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
