Elco Salens's late challenge caught a Lutkewierum's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Elco Salens helped the player get up and apologised. If Guus Geers had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 28 minutes into the match, Wezep FC's goal looked a bit too open when Guus Geers came free, but Arne van Zalen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lutkewierum's supporters rose to their feet, but Guus Geers was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Arne van Zalen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Arne van Zalen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Egbert van der Doelen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Elco Salens was shown his second yellow card after 43 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After a rather tough play, Wezep FC's Elco Salens got a free kick in the 44th minute.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Egbert van der Doelen to strike the kick off in the second half. Arne van Zalen made an important save on a dangerous shot by Guus Geers in the 57th minute. The supporters of Wezep FC booed when Lutkewierum was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Egbert van der Doelen didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 68 played minutes Lutkewierum got a freekick which was hit by Carlo Roelofsen. Arne van Zalen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Egbert van der Doelen, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. Guus Geers received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Lutkewierum players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
