Auke van Wonderen blasted a shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without David Pieters having to make a save. MVV Maastricht's David Pieters proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 8th minute of the match, managed to save MVV Maastricht from getting a goal against them. A collision led to MVV Maastricht getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Ruud Oosterhof hit a great ball. After having played for 14 minutes, Ferdi Scheer managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Viko's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ferdi Scheer was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, MVV Maastricht's Brain Warringa got a free kick in the 15th minute. If Matthijs Moek had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ferdi Scheer charged in rather forcefully in the 19th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ferdi Scheer the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of MVV Maastricht booed when Viko was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ferdi Scheer didn't get a good kick on the ball. Domenik Oosterman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bill Korfs having to interfere. With his leg David Pieters managed to avoid a goal in the 23rdth minute, when Viko's Auke van Wonderen fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Frits Schoenmakers sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 29 minutes into the match, Viko's goal looked a bit too open when Matthijs Moek came free, but Bill Korfs reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bill Korfs made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Frits Schoenmakers in the 30th minute of play. In the 31st minute of the match MVV Maastricht got a corner. Viko's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Luc Duin ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led MVV Maastricht's Luc Duin to fire away a dangerous shot which Bill Korfs despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Matthijs Moek received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Bill Korfs tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Matthijs Moek in the 35th minute of play forced Viko's goalkeeper Bill Korfs to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Matthijs Moek struck a weak shot in the 37th minute. Bill Korfs didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for MVV Maastricht. The audience was convinced that Yorrick Zuidam's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Bill Korfs was relentless in the 45th minute of the game. With a little luck, Viko's Bill Korfs got control of the ball when Matthijs Moek tried to sneak it across the goal line. Frits Schoenmakers received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Bill Korfs tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A hard shot 64 in the game by Matthijs Moek from a close distance when the talented Bill Korfs managed to make a qualified save. Viko's players were relieved. Bill Korfs was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 82 played minutes MVV Maastricht got a freekick which was hit by Domenik Oosterman. Matthijs Moek fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bill Korfs having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Viko's Auke van Wonderen got a free kick in the 87th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Brain Warringa during the 90th minute. When the match was over MVV Maastricht could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Viko throughout the match.
