Gilbert Fleur fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kacper Gruchacz having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Hernen Bacon's Hans Waterman got a free kick in the 35th minute. Kacper Gruchacz made a fantastic save in the 36th minute, when Maurits Ruben sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hirving Lozano in the 38th minute of play forced MVV Maastricht's goalkeeper Dean Verbruggen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 39th minute Hernen Bacon were awarded a corner. Peter Borg went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Peter Borg got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Dean Verbruggen quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. After a rather tough play, Hernen Bacon's Ivo Roelofsen got a free kick in the 43rd minute. Kacper Gruchacz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Maurits Ruben, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Maarten Colen was the one to do the kick off. Ricardo Caneira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dean Verbruggen having to interfere. In the 59th minute, Ricardo Caneira left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Hernen Bacon fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 67th minute, Maarten Colen managed to get in a good position for a shot. MVV Maastricht's supporters rose to their feet, but Maarten Colen was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kacper Gruchacz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 69th minute, Folker van Gastel got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 75th minute Ricardo Caneira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dean Verbruggen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hirving Lozano came free with the goalkeeper in the 77th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Dean Verbruggen could save by the left post. Kacper Gruchacz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Maurits Ruben in the 78th minute of play. Hirving Lozano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Dean Verbruggen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 84 minutes had been played when some careless play by MVV Maastricht's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Peter Borg was slow to take the kick. During this time Hernen Bacon's players had a chance to rest. Vincent Stubbe hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. 88 minutes into the match, Hernen Bacon's goal looked a bit too open when Maarten Colen came free, but Kacper Gruchacz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When John Pothuizen fell near the penalty area in the 91st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored MVV Maastricht's protests and gave John Pothuizen a yellow card for diving instead.
