Baal Vanger made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. After 10 played minutes De Pelgrims got a freekick which was hit by Erben Roelofs. 13 minutes had been played when some careless play by De Pelgrims's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Leonard Moberg was slow to take the kick. During this time Holtland FC's players had a chance to rest. Holtland FC's Baal Vanger proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 14th minute of the match, managed to save Holtland FC from getting a goal against them. The supporters of Holtland FC booed when De Pelgrims was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Erben Roelofs didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 23rd minute Leonard Moberg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mike Zoetmulder saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 28th minute, Maikel Douwes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Baal Vanger stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Mathias de Ruijter's shot from short distance in the 30th minute. 30 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when De Pelgrims's Mathias de Ruijter fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. A collision led to De Pelgrims getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Erben Roelofs hit a great ball. Baal Vanger made a fantastic save in the 45th minute, when Henk Cardinaal sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Maikel Douwes in the 46th minute of play forced De Pelgrims's goalkeeper Mike Zoetmulder to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.
The wind increased when Sjef Fellinger made the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the game, De Pelgrims's Henk Cardinaal nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Baal Vanger made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. After 53 played minutes De Pelgrims got a freekick which was hit by Montrel Perpiñán. A collision led to De Pelgrims getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Erben Roelofs hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Holtland FC's Marcel Lamberts got a free kick in the 58th minute. 61 minutes had been played when some careless play by Holtland FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Fu Peng Feng was slow to take the kick. During this time De Pelgrims's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Fu Peng Feng almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Holtland FC's Baal Vanger did a great save. Mathias Koole might have been able to make a better finish in the 64th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Mike Zoetmulder. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mathias Koole ran back to his position shaking his head. 64 minutes into the match, De Pelgrims's goalkeeper Mike Zoetmulder had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mathias Koole. After having played for 66 minutes, Mathias de Ruijter managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. De Pelgrims's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mathias de Ruijter was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 68 minutes into the game, one of De Pelgrims:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sjef Fellinger in the 73rd minute of play forced De Pelgrims's goalkeeper Mike Zoetmulder to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 74 minutes into the game, De Pelgrims's Mathias de Ruijter nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Baal Vanger made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. If Sjef Fellinger had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sjef Fellinger got free with Mike Zoetmulder in the 83rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 84th minute Holtland FC were awarded a corner. Leonard Moberg went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Holtland FC's Maikel Douwes to a score. 3-1 in the 85th minute. In the 88th minute of the match De Pelgrims got a corner. Holtland FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Fu Peng Feng ran over to the corner to take the kick. It was a well-played corner which Erben Roelofs managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. 91 minutes into the match, De Pelgrims's goalkeeper Mike Zoetmulder had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sjef Fellinger. After 93 minutes De Pelgrims's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Leonard Moberg who took care of the corner kick. For all the effort they put into the match, the Holtland FC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for De Pelgrims.
