The audience thought a goal was coming when Nick Heesen got free with Jan de Boer in the 10th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jan de Boer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joep Ponk in the 16th minute of play. Georg Hagberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Henk van Zwieten in the 17th minute of play. Nick Heesen showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. In the 34th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sons of Strategy's goalkeeper Jan de Boer, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Jan de Boer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nick Heesen, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Nick Heesen who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 40thth minute tested the skills of Jan de Boer when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Nick Heesen scored 2-0 in the 43rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jan de Boer, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Ferry Klein's late challenge caught a Ágætis Byrjun's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ferry Klein helped the player get up and apologised. In the 46th match minute, Sons of Strategy was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ferry Klein to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Sons of Strategy getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Marco Bos hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Sons of Strategy's zone, Ladislao Cordarius stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jan de Boer came out of the goal and Ladislao Cordarius tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.

Sons of Strategy's Jan de Boer played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joep Ponk in the 54th minute of play. Marinus Abbenbroek made in the 57th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Wilco Heida however managed to control. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nick Heesen in the 65th minute of play forced Sons of Strategy's goalkeeper Jan de Boer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jan de Boer came out of the goal in the 66th minute to try and stop a shot by Ágætis Byrjun's Nick Heesen. But to his dismay, Nick Heesen quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. Ágætis Byrjun's Ernst Melis was substituted for Vitaliy Vorobey. In the 74th minute Joep Ponk shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jan de Boer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 76 minutes into the match, Nick Heesen had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jan de Boer. Sons of Strategy's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Nick Heesen was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. The supporters of Sons of Strategy booed when Ágætis Byrjun was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Paúl Laime didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jan de Boer didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Nick Heesen went, in the 85th minute, to the upper right corner, 5-0 was the resulting score. 88 minutes into the match, Manolo Bartumeu notched a goal, 6-0, to the right of Sons of Strategy's Jan de Boer. Jan de Boer was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Jan de Boer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ditlev Delmont in the 92nd minute of play. Sons of Strategy's Wilco Heida got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ágætis Byrjun's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
