Arthur Herrera received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Carl Delia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Mosta FC's zone, Arthur Herrera stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Carl Delia came out of the goal and Arthur Herrera tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Keith Scerri blasted a shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Carl Delia having to make a save. Carl Delia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Shaun Briffa, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. If Arthur Herrera had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Keith Scerri came up free with the goalie in the 12th minute, the Ta Paola fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Keith Scerri couldn't finish the play. Adrian Lia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 17th minute, Keith Scerri got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some careless play in the Mosta FC defense, Shaun Briffa kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Carl Delia. The Mosta FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Carl Delia should have stopped the shot. Nathaniel Hamilton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 28 minutes into the game, Cedric Blanco recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Keith Saliba. Cedric Blanco showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Andrew Diacono in the 31st minute of play forced Mosta FC's goalkeeper Carl Delia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 32nd minute, Shaun Briffa ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Carl Delia was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Mosta FC's Carl Delia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Keith Scerri in the 41st minute of play. Keith Scerri blasted a shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Carl Delia having to make a save. Carl Delia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Keith Scerri in the 48th minute of the match. Disappointed in the 1-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Shaun Briffa made the kick off in the second half. Keith Scerri could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 55th minute of the match, but Carl Delia made a huge save. Carl Delia came out of the goal in the 56th minute to try and stop a shot by Ta Paola's Shaun Briffa. But to his dismay, Shaun Briffa quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-4. Ta Paola's Andrew Diacono got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Tim Spagnol sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Carl Delia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tim Spagnol in the 66th minute of play. Andrew Diacono's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Carl Delia firmly grabbed it by the left post. Mosta FC's Carl Delia proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 69th minute of the match, managed to save Mosta FC from getting a goal against them. When the match had gone on for 73 minutes, Shaun Briffa took a quick shot and it went in 1-5 without a chance for Carl Delia to make any attempt to save it. The supporters of Ta Paola booed when Mosta FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cedric Blanco didn't get a good kick on the ball. Carl Delia made a fantastic save in the 78th minute, when Keith Scerri sent off a good shot on target. With a little luck, Mosta FC's Carl Delia got control of the ball when Keith Scerri tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 85th minute the ball was on its way in behind Mosta FC's goalkeeper Carl Delia, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Arthur Herrera fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carl Delia having to interfere. In the 95th minute, Arthur Herrera got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ta Paola's Keith Scerri got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ta Paola's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
