The supporters of FC Resurrection booed when Xgħajra was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Clifton Williams didn't get a good kick on the ball. Stephen Satariano recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 7th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jacob Gaffiero kicked well hit freekick during the 9th minute of the match. Tommy Bonavita hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. 17 minutes into the game, Xgħajra's Ramon Mulè nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Clayton Camilleri made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. 20 minutes into the match, Xgħajra's goal looked a bit too open when Stephen Satariano came free, but Roderick Mallia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tommy Bonavita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Clayton Camilleri tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 24 minutes of play, Xgħajra's Tommy Bonavita made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Clayton Camilleri was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 27th match minute, Xgħajra was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Brian Amato to maneuver through the defense. Stephen Satariano might have been able to make a better finish in the 34th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Roderick Mallia. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Stephen Satariano ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 38th minute, Frederick Cefai got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Frederick Cefai had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 43 minutes, Stephen Satariano managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Resurrection's supporters crossed their fingers, but Stephen Satariano was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Stephen Satariano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 46th minute, Stephen Satariano managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Resurrection's supporters rose to their feet, but Stephen Satariano was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Roderick Mallia breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ramon Mulè made a kick off. A collision led to FC Resurrection getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Frederick Cefai hit a great ball. Jacob Gaffiero who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 59thth minute tested the skills of Clayton Camilleri when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Jake Terribile received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Roderick Mallia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 65th minute Brian Amato shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Clayton Camilleri saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 68 minutes, Frederick Cefai mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Resurrection and the Xgħajra players grew even worse after the yellow card. Clayton Camilleri took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tommy Bonavita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Jake Terribile had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Xgħajra booed when FC Resurrection was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Frederick Cefai didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 79th match minute, FC Resurrection was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Stephen Satariano to maneuver through the defense. Stephen Satariano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Roderick Mallia having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Xgħajra's zone, Stephen Satariano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Roderick Mallia came out of the goal and Stephen Satariano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 85th minute, Xgħajra's Ramon Mulè dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-3. FC Resurrection's Clayton Camilleri proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 89th minute of the match, managed to save FC Resurrection from getting a goal against them. In the 89th minute, Tyrone Tortell hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Chants of Xgħajra echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as FC Resurrection had held the ball for most of the match.
