In the 3rd minute of the match, Giorgio Caruana got a very nice opportunity to score, but Pankracy Zawacki was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. After a defensive mix-up in Meerkats FC's zone, Godwin Montesin stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pankracy Zawacki came out of the goal and Godwin Montesin tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a little luck, Meerkats FC's Pankracy Zawacki got control of the ball when Giorgio Caruana tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Amir Abou Jisser had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With his leg Pankracy Zawacki managed to avoid a goal in the 15thth minute, when Floriana Celtics's Giorgio Caruana fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 20 minutes into the match, Meerkats FC's Amir Abou Jisser sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Mats Sangolt narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Mats Sangolt took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Shaun De Battista, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Amir Abou Jisser in the 27th minute of play forced Floriana Celtics's goalkeeper Mats Sangolt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Amir Abou Jisser took the ball and in the 29 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Mats Sangolt. Mats Sangolt dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. In the 31st minute of the match, Kyle Thake tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Pankracy Zawacki saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 33rd minute Amir Abou Jisser shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mats Sangolt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Amir Abou Jisser sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Mats Sangolt took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Amir Abou Jisser, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 39th minute of the match Meerkats FC got a corner. Floriana Celtics's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Giuseppe Chircop ran over to the corner to take the kick. Aleksander Zapolski made a great header on Meerkats FC's corner, it was just that Floriana Celtics's Mats Sangolt managed to reach the ball for a save. A collision led to Meerkats FC getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Stephan Lentini hit a great ball. Shaun De Battista hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match.

51 minutes into the match, Floriana Celtics's goal looked a bit too open when Shaun De Battista came free, but Mats Sangolt reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Floriana Celtics:s Mats Sangolt showed great skill when he stopped Giuseppe Chircop:s penalty. Meerkats FC's Pankracy Zawacki played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Godwin Montesin in the 56th minute of play. Mats Sangolt made an important save on a dangerous shot by Amir Abou Jisser in the 60th minute. With an all-out effort, Meerkats FC's Mats Sangolt threw himself towards the right post 62 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Shaun De Battista, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Floriana Celtics made a substitution. Miguel Piscopo replaced Giorgio Caruana. Floriana Celtics's Alex Testaferrata Viani was substituted for Samuel Lentini. In the 64th minute of the match Meerkats FC got a corner. Floriana Celtics's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Giuseppe Chircop ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Floriana Celtics's goalie and right to Shaun De Battista. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Floriana Celtics's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Godwin Montesin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Amir Abou Jisser in the 70th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mats Sangolt saved Floriana Celtics from getting behind. The audience was convinced that Amir Abou Jisser's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Mats Sangolt was relentless in the 70th minute of the game. Vihren Sirenyakov sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 73rd minute, Shaun De Battista managed to get in a good position for a shot. Meerkats FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Shaun De Battista was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mats Sangolt breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 75 minutes into the game, Floriana Celtics's Vihren Sirenyakov nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Pankracy Zawacki made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. After a rather tough play, Floriana Celtics's Kyle Thake got a free kick in the 77th minute. In the 81st minute, Shaun De Battista made a precise shot to the right of Mats Sangolt. Floriana Celtics's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. If Miguel Piscopo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet as Amir Abou Jisser kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Mats Sangolt. That made the score 1-3 in the 88 minute of play. Mats Sangolt stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Amir Abou Jisser's shot from short distance in the 93rd minute. 96 minutes into the game, Robert Portanier was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Meerkats FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Floriana Celtics the free kick. In the 97th match minute, Meerkats FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Robert Portanier to maneuver through the defense. The Floriana Celtics manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Meerkats FC to win.
